Analisadaily.com, Beijing - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) strengthens research and innovation collaboration with the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in the fields of health, energy, and climate change.
"China is a strategic partner for Indonesia. We have many funding programs that are beneficial for BRIN, universities, and research institutions in Indonesia," Haryono noted in a statement from his office on Monday (November 4), culled from Antara.
During the 7th China-Indonesia Joint Committee on Science, Technology & Innovation Cooperation in Beijing, MOST expressed its readiness to support joint research projects in sub-fields such as renewable energy, biofuels, electric vehicles, and biotechnology.
MOST proposed six collaborative projects to be completed within two years, with financial support from the Chinese Government and contributions from Indonesia according to budget availability.
Haryono stated that MOST also plans to launch a short-term research program for Indonesian scientists to conduct research in China, especially in the energy and construction fields.
In the same statement, Deputy Director General of the China Science and Technology Exchange Center, Yang Xuemei, invited young Indonesian scientists to spend a year in China to deepen scientific research.
In addition, BRIN and MOST support the establishment of a joint research center with the involvement of Tsinghua University and the Health Policy Department of the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
According to Haryono, the joint research center is expected to become a collaborative research center bridging related institutions from both countries in the fields of health and public policy.
China then highlighted the role of the China-ASEAN Technology Transfer Center (CATTC) in strengthening technology transfer to Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Haryono said his side would continue to support local start-ups and encourage technology development through various platforms and scientific journals for social and technological progress.
The meeting, held on November 1, 2024, ended with the signing of the Implementing Arrangement Concerning the 1st Joint Research Program agreement between MOST and BRIN as a follow-up to the MoU signed the previous year. (ANT/BR)
